CANYON PARK FRIENDS OF OPEN SPACE
We are a group of residents of the Canyon Park and nearby neighborhoods
in the El Sobrante Valley who seek to protect the area's residents, schoolchildren,
hikers, wildlife and open space from unwise development of the El Sobrante hills. We have
opposed the prior Clark Road Project (CRP) and the Forest Green (FG) project, both of which
were to be situated on highly unstable ground that is utterly unsuited for a large housing
development. After joint efforts with several other groups and many individuals, we are
pleased to report that both projects are no longer active. Unfortunately, a new threat to
the Clark Road area has arisen, and it’s likely just a matter of time before another attempt
is made at Forest Green.
We offer this website to keep the public informed of scheduled
events and new developments, to make available information pertaining to the
CRP and other large area development projects, and to foster the movement to
preserve the Richmond - El Sobrante Hillsides.
We maintain an email list through which we announce new developments and calls to action.
Send us an email if you'd like to be placed on this list. If you are interested in becoming a
volunteer and helping with leafleting, researching and public outreach, we'd love to hear from
you!
